Iker Goikoetxea, managing director of the Kursaal Convention Centre, was appointed to the board of the AIPC (International Association of Congress Centres) at the annual conference of the association, held in San Diego (USA) from 28 June-1 July.
Together with Iker Goikoetxea, Peter Gunn, director of Bournemouth International Centre (Great Britain), was also appointed to the board, chaired by Edgar Hirt, managing director of Hamburg Congress Centre, with Geoff Donaghy, director of Cairnes Congress Centre (Australia), acting as vice-chairman, and the rest of the members coming from convention and congress centres in Athens, Basel and San Diego.

AIPC is the world’s leading association for professionals working in convention, congress and exhibition centre. Its chief aim is to support and acknowledge excellence in convention centre management and, at the same time, provide member centres with the necessary tools for achieving success through research, training and networking programmes.
AIPC, which currently has member centres from 53 countries, is a benchmark for the meetings and event industry.
