Led by Christoph Steiner, the project’s team will make the most of the experience of the sports department of MICE Europe and the long-lasting relationship between KUONI and the UEFA.
The company will be responsible for handling accommodation services for the 24 national squads, referees, business sponsors and TV operators, as well as media representatives, suppliers and the staff involved in organizing the tournament.
The tournament, which will take place in France, is the second in which KUONI will be participating, since the company was also the official accommodation agency for the UEFA EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. During the UEFA EURO 2016, 51 matches will be played in 10 cities, from mid-June to mid-July. It is expected that hotel rooms for 250,000 overnight stays will be needed just in the final phase of the tournament.
Jacques Lambert, president of EURO 2016 SAS, indicated: "For the tournament it’s very important that everybody feels at home at the available facilities. France is acknowledged the world over for its hospitality, and we’re delighted to be able to work with KUONI, a fully consolidated company in our country which has an excellent reputation in the international tourism industry."
Stefan Egli, head of Destination Europe ay KUONI, added: "KUONI is proud to form a part of such a prestigious event for the second time, and our aim is to contribute to the success of the UEFA EURO 2016. We trust that we will be able to demonstrate our professionalism and knowledge, together with the UEFA and our future international clients, with the close cooperation of the French tourism industry."
Led by Christoph Steiner, the project’s team will make the most of the experience of the sports department of MICE Europe and the long-lasting relationship between KUONI and the UEFA. "Our success as the official accommodation agency of the UEFA EURO 2008, held in Austria and Switzerland, as well as our current commitment to the Champions League and Europa League have allowed the project’s team to acquire technical knowledge, which has been central to the success of our tender."
Along these lines, Carlos Sabate, CEO KUONI Destination Management in Spain, stressed how pleased he was with the news, since, in his opinion, "this goes to show the work carried out by our teams, and KUONI’s focus on multitudinous events and the high demands that these entail."
