Jesus Maria Gomez Merino will occupy the post for the next two years.
Jesus Maria Gomez Merino was appointed to the post of president during the Annual Associates’ Meeting of the Spanish Chapter of MPI (Meeting Professionals International), the world’s leading meeting and event industry association, held at Madrid’s IFEMA on 5 July. He will occupy the post until July 2014.
Born in Valladolid in 1968, Gomez Merino has a diploma in tourism company and activity management from INCA Valladolid, as well as a master in marketing from the Valladolid Chamber of Commerce. With over 20 years of experience in the MICE industry as a professional congress organizer (PCO) and in managing cultural, travel and technology services, he currently manages Grupo Evento.es. He is also an author, speaker and frequent moderator on issues related to the meeting and event industry.
Gomez Merino takes over from Francisco Quereda, CEO of Malaga Convention Bureau, and will preside over a board comprising some of Spain’s top meeting and event professionals.
