Jerez Tourism Board and Convention Bureau Organize Fam Trip for American Express Business Travel Agents

Juan Manuel Garcia Bermudez and Javier Mejia, CEO of American Express Barcelo Viajes, have planned further meetings to discuss joint actions.



Juan Manuel Garcia Bermudez, head of the tourism department, welcomed the group comprising 13 travel agents, office managers and technicians of American Express' events department from several European cities, who participated in the fam trip organized by the Jerez Tourism Board and Convention Bureau, under the sponsorship of the Provincial Tourist Board and the inbound tourism department of American Express Barcelo Viajes in Spain.



The welcoming event, which was held at the Carriage Museum in El Puerto de Santa Maria, was attended by Javier Mejias, CEO of American Express Barcelo Viajes, and Jose Antonio Ruiz, the company's group and event manager.



Afterwards, Garcia Bermudez stated that he was delighted with the results of the fam trip, with the participation of a large number of European managers of American Express Business Travel's event division, one of the world's most important players in the travel industry, "with whom we have discussed new ways of collaborating in the the destination's promotion."



Along these lines, Bermudez and Mejia have promised to arrange a number of periodical meetings with the aim of exploring new ways of collaboration between Jerez City Council and American Express Barcelo Viajes.



The fam trip, which took place from 14-17 April, allowed the participants to get to know the area's tourism resources, including different wineries belonging to the Jerez Appellation d'Origine, featuring the Velez de Chiclana Winery, and the properties of several hotel companies – Barcelo Hotels, the Valentin Sancto Petri Hotel and the Guadalete Hotel. The group was also treated to flamenco and horse shows at Fuente Rey, Alburejos and Yeguada de la Cartuja. Bar Juanito/Alta Cazuela Catering, Gourmet Cobos Catering and Restaurante La Carbona also participated in the programme.
