With around 500 teams participating in the quad, bike, car and truck categories, iVents has designed a unique programme designed to allow guests to experience this renowned rally in true VIP style.
The adventure began back in 1977, when Thierry Sabine got lost on his motorbike in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Saved from the sands, he returned to France promising himself he would share his fascination with as many people as possible. He proceeded to come up with a route starting in Europe, continuing to Algiers and crossing Agadez before eventually finishing in Dakar, Senegal. Thus, the renowned Paris-Dakar Rally was born. The founder coined a motto for his inspiration: "A challenge for those who go. A dream for those who stay behind."
iVents, the Palma de Mallorca-based event agency and incentive house, has just unveiled "Dakar Experience 2012," an unforgettable eight-day programme coinciding with the end of the rally in Lima, Peru, designed to give guests a real taste of the event, without the demands of competing.
Arriving at Lima from Schiphol Airport on 10 January 2012, guests will be accommodated at the Marriott Hotel. The following day, the programme includes of private tour of Lima in the afternoon. Then on 12 January, guests will be flown to Tacna where they will be picked up at the airport in personal luxury 4x4s to join up with the rally’s stage ending in Arequipa. On the 13th, the group will get an early start to cover the stage to Nasca, through the majestic Andes, before sleeping overnight in custom built bivouacs, including their own bar and shower tent. After the penultimate stage to Pisco on the 14th, guests will be driven to Lima in time to welcome the teams in the city’s Plaza de Armas, watching the action from their own VIP balcony. Guests will also be invited to the official prize ceremony and an evening party with all the rally’s participants.
With Dakar going to Peru for the first time ever, this is a unique opportunity to see the most famous of all rally’s in action, as well as experiencing the amazing scenic beauty and local flavours that Peru has to offer.
