The aim of the trip was to get to know and learn from the agricultural production system of Almeria.
A group of 52 German students from the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Science, located in the Bavarian town of Triesdorf, accompanied by three university professors, visited El Ejido with the aim of getting to know firsthand and learning from the agricultural production system of Almeria.
The choice of El Ejido is due to the fact that it is the municipality that best represents agriculture en the province of Almeria, thanks to its 17,304 acres of farmland, the largest extension in the province.
During the visit – stemming from the agreement signed with the tour operator Indigo DMC, aimed at promoting agricultural tourism in the area – the members of the group where welcomed by Francisco Gongora, mayor of El Ejido, in the recently refurbished hall of the 5-star Golf Almerimar, where they started their tour featuring visits to the "Las Palmerillas" Experimental Research Centre, the facilities of Clisol Agro, and the municipality’s most important attractions.
Over the next few months, El Elijo will be hosting similar visits, since there are four trips scheduled to date, also thanks to the agreement signed with Indigo DMC.
