Every year our Spanish school IMSOL welcomes a group of students from Italy. During this study trip the students follow Spanish courses in our school in the mornings, and in the afternoons they have the possibility to visit Granada, one of the most beautiful cities in Andalucía, and its major places of interest. This type of programme is perfect for young students because they can mix the learning of a foreign language with a huge variety of entertaining activities and cultural visits in a city full of charm.
From the 4th to the 10th of March 2018, IMSOL welcomed a school of Italian students. On Sunday, after arriving in Granada, the students met their host families and spent some time with them to get to know each other better and start the Spanish immersion from the very beginning. On Monday morning they came to the Instituto Mediterráneo Sol to start their first Spanish lesson with our teachers, and in the afternoon they went on a guided tour through the ancient Jewish quarter the Realejo, a neighborhood in Granada not well known by the tourists.
Finally it’s Tuesday, and with it has come the excursion to Córdoba!
The group of students left in the early morning to spend a day in one of the most beautiful cities in Andalucía, situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir river. There they visited the Puente Romano, the Plaza de Capuchinos, the Plaza de la Corredera, the Plaza de las Tendillas and they also visited the Mezquita-Catedral, the most important monument of the Islamic culture.
On Wednesday morning the group came back to our institute for the Spanish lessons. In the afternoon it went on a guided tour through two other famous neighborhoods of Granada: the Albaicín, an ancient Arabian quarter and true origin of the city, and the Sacromonte, from where you can enjoy an amazing view of the Alhambra and the whole city.
Since the Alhambra is the most visited monument and symbol of Granada, it is an obligatory stop for all those who come visiting our city. For this reason, on Thursday afternoon, the group of Italian students had the possibility to visit the Palacios Nazaríes, the Alcazaba, the Palacio de Carlos V and the Generalife gardens, remaining enchanted by this monument, famous for its majesty, history and beauty.
On Friday, after the Spanish lessons at the school, the students participated in a cultural workshop: ‘The Arabs in Granada’ and visited the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo, situated in the Realejo.
Unfortunately Saturday, the departure day, arrived. The students said goodbye to their host families, with which they spent a lot of time practicing their Spanish and also got to know the typical Spanish cuisine by eating with them. They went back to Italy, but we are sure they will keep the memory of Granada forever in their hearts.
We express our gratitude to them for coming to our school to study Spanish and having spent time with us.
We look forward to seeing them again next year!
