Ibiza Gran Hotel participates in UNICEF’s Check Out for Children initiative

In this way, the luxury Ibiza property will contribute to combating the sexual exploitation of children at tourist destinations.



Ibiza Gran Hotel has decided to participate in UNICEF’s Check Out for Children, an initiative created by the Spanish UNICEF Committee, which aims to combat the sexual exploitation of children at tourist destinations. With its participation, the hotel becomes a mobilization and communication platform geared to promoting children’s rights among both guests and employees.



Having already directly benefitted 145,000 children and teenagers, the aim of the project is to reduce commercial sexual exploitation in the Dominican Republic (with special emphasis on Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Boca Chica, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Samana, Bavaro, and Punta Cana), through the forging of a wide-ranging alliance between the private and public sectors, civil society and academic institutions.



Under the slogan "Today you can change the world while you sleep," the Spanish UNICEF Committee intends to raise public awareness about the problems affecting millions of children and the need to take measures to effectively protect them, while raising funds earmarked for its children’s protection programme.



Ibiza Gran Hotel will be participating in this initiative on an annual basis, depositing a minimum of €4.500 in lieu of the funds finally raised, a figure that nevertheless is hoped to much higher. Those guests wishing to participate in the project can do so with a donation of €3, automatically added to their final bill. In addition, so as raise the awareness of both guests and employees, Ibiza Gran Hotel has undertaken the commitment to distribute printed information about the campaign against the exploitation of children at tourist destinations.
