Incentive travel will bounce back this year, according to Great Hotels of the World who predicted 2011 to be the year companies resume staff trips.

The online hotel shopping site said between October to December 2010 travel enquiries into incentive travel had soared compared to the same period in 2009, and expects bookings in 2011 to accelerate.

Great Hotels of the World sales director Armand Guillemot stated that the company is feeling that the effects of the global financial crisis are beginning to wear off in MICE travel.

"The past few months has seen a significant increase in the amount of enquiries for incentive trips placed through Great Hotels of the World," Mr Guillemot said.

Mr Guillemot added that along with an increase in the average stay for incentive trips, companies are also looking to turn staff productivity and bonding trips into a charitable event.

"One of the trends we’ve noticed is that corporate social responsibility is becoming more important for companies as many are looking for some sort of charity element included in their incentive trips," he said.

"Our member hotels are offering very competitive rates and creative incentive ideas to help kick start the trend. We have a number of hotels suitable for incentive travel trips which can be found on our website."
