This year, Granada’s Congress and Exhibition Centre has hosted 27 congresses and more than 125 events, 13 of which were international, congregating over 157,000 participants. Thirty-two events have already been confirmed for the period 2009-2017, and another 42 are in process of being confirmed.
The 50th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, Biospain, and the Congress of the Society of Spanish GPs (SAMFyC), which had 1,400, 2,000 and 1,200 participants, respectively, who stayed in Granada for an average of five nights, feature among the most important events held this year at the congress and exhibition centre.
According to Eva Fernandez, who replaced Jose Luis Garcia Candal as director as the beginning of November, the congress and exhibition centre is not obsolete and still has possibilities for growth. In fact, the possibility of enlarging the building is currently being studied.
