Global Exhibitions Centers (GEC) took over the management of the Catalonia Congress Centre in April 2001.

A year after signing the agreement, the results speak for themselves: the volume of business and income (EUR 4.9 million) has increased considerably, compared with the previous financial year of 2010. In addition, Nacho Soler, CEO of GEC, was quick to point out: "The number of confirmations for 2013 makes us feel very optimistic."

The increase in business activity and income of the Catalonia Congress Centre during GEC’s first year of management is proof of the company’s excellent work at this emblematic Barcelona venue. The reason for this increase can be found in GEC’s business structure, focusing on grouping together both the venues that it manages and the services that it provides under the same corporate umbrella.

As a result, GEC has consolidated its leading position in the MICE industry: "We specialize in efficient venue management. Along these lines, and being fully aware that efficient venue management requires that venues provide event planners with all they need, at GEC we are totally committed to equipping the facilities we manage with cutting-edge technology," explained Soler.

These new practices perfectly complement a management strategy based on optimizing costs, while at the same time providing clients with turnkey solutions, whether the event to be held is a congress, general meeting, exhibition or tradeshow.

The Catalonia Congress Centre: a benchmark venue in Barcelona

The growth in the volume of business registered since 2011 is proof of the venue’s efficient management."An emblematic venue ideal for holding all types of events and congresses in Barcelona," stated a GEC spokesman. The specialization of the professionals advising clients throughout the planning process, depending on the specific characteristics of each event, means that it is possible to satisfy all their needs, thanks to a full range of quality services and the latest in technology solutions. Whatever the event – congress, tradeshow, exhibition, film premiere or product presentation – the Catalonia Congress Centre has positioned itself as the benchmark venue in Barcelona.

Its excellent location, in the Avenida Diagonal, and the broad choice of services and tourist attractions for delegates, are just a few of the reasons behind the venue’s success, to which the centre’s facilities, varying in capacity, have also contributed.

The centre’s facilities feature a 2,000-seat auditorium, Room F seating 350, and Expo Room, with a seating capacity of 2,500 people. In addition, the centre has 25,000sqm of gardens, including two function rooms, with a capacity of 350 and 500, respectively. "In short," concluded Soler, "the Catalonia Congress Centre is a unique venue for unique events."
