Gestió i Serveis Trade Center S.A. (GIS), a service company specializing in real estate and hotel project management, and responsible for managing the Barcelona World Trade Center, has been awarded the management contract of the Toledo Congress Centre by the City Council.
With an overall investment of EUR 1.5 million, the management contract will last 20 years and envisages the creation of approximately 50 direct and indirect jobs.
"Toledo is a city with an enormous potential for business tourism, both because of its monuments and attraction and its proximity to Madrid," says Francisco Ruiz Mañas, vice-managing director of GIS. "In addition, we believe that our experience in the industry and our client portfolio will allow us to meet this challenge with success,".
The city and its local business sector play a fundamental role in the development of the project and the proposal submitted by Gestió i Serveis Trade Center. The company's bid included 12 collaboration agreements signed by a number of firms, 11 of which are based in Toledo.
With this project, the Catalonia-based firm consolidates its position as one of the main managing and marketing players in the Spanish congress industry.
Toledo Congress Centre
Designed by Rafael Moneo, the Toledo Congress Centre is located in the city centre, blending in perfectly with the surroundings. Aesthetics and functionality have played a fundamental role in endowing the centre with the capacity for boosting the local economy and attracting world-class congresses and unique events. Furthermore, Jardines del Miradero – a garden venue planned to be built on the centre's roof – has been designed to reinforce the synergies between the centre and the city.
With approximately 12,000sqm of facilities, the centre's flexibility and services will make it a unique venue capable of satisfying the needs of corporate events and association meetings alike. The centre's facilities will include the following: a fully equipped, partitionable auditorium, with a large stage, with a seating capacity of 600-1,000 people; six partitionable function rooms, seating from 32-140 people in theatre format; a multipurpose hall for exhibitions and banquets with up to 300 guests; and a restaurant seating 450 people, with a VIP dining room seating 80. The centre will also have a car park with 600 parking spaces.
