Generating business to the tune of €60 million a year, the Galician meeting and event industry has joined forces for the first time to promote the region as a destination.
More than 100 MICE industry professionals attended the presentation in Madrid of the project “Galicia MICE”, promoted by the Tourism Cluster of Galicia and the Axencia Turismo Galicia, whose aim is to position Galicia as a meeting and event destination.
OPC Galicia, the Galician Convention Centre Association, the Corunna Corporate Hospitality Association (HOSPECO), and the Pontevedra Corporate Hospitality Association (ASEHOPO), the promoters behind the project, intend to establish a permanent organization.
To this end, they have created a number of tools and implemented initiatives geared to promoting Galicia’s offering as a destination, highlighting the potential public interest of this type of tourism.
In this respect, the event included the presentation of “Galicia MICE”, a professional guide that will help event agencies and promoters to locate all the resources that the region offers organizers of congresses, conventions, or trade shows, in addition to an online platform containing interesting information for MICE professionals.
