The conference entitled "Antonio Gala and the New Spanish Literary Theatre" was held in the evening of 25 June as the closing session of the 4th Permanent Seminar of the Caballero Bonald Foundation of Jerez, dedicated this year to "Andalusian Authors and Texts in Spanish Theatre".
The spectacular facilities of El Misterio de Jerez wine museum, belonging to the Atalaya Museums, the headquarters of the Jerez Wine and Brandy Tour Association, was chosen as the venue.
Sponsored by Cajasol and co-ordinated by Dr Alberto Romero, a lecturer at the University of Cadiz, the seminar was organised jointly by the Caballero Bonald Foundation, the University of Cadiz, the Department of Education of the Andalusian regional government through the CEP of Jerez, and Jerez Town Council’s office of culture.
The Andres de Ribera Foundation, the institution that manages the museums, would like to stress the important work carried out by the Caballero Bonald Foundation, which frequently uses the museums for the important events that it organises, such as the dialogue between Antonio Gala and Andres Pelaez, director of the Almagro National Theatre Museum and a connoisseur of Gala and his works.
In a relaxed atmosphere, more than 300 guests enjoyed the detailed commentary on Gala’s plays, full of marvellous anecdotes, opinions and the author’s unique humour.
After the event, a private dinner was held in the Luis XV Hall of the Palacio del Tiempo’s clock museum.
