The German company TUI AG has awarded yet again the "TUI Environment Champion" prize to Fuerte Conil, Fuerte El Rompido, Fuerte Grazalema and El Fuerte de Marbella, all hotels belonging to the well-known Fuerte Hotels chain, based in Malaga. The hotel Fuerte Conil is among the top ten once again, a position it has occupied since 2001.

The jury: our hotel guests. Since 1996, the market research questionnaire produced by TUI Deutschland and filled in by TUI holidaymakers has included the question "How would you rate the measures implemented by your holiday hotel to reduce environmental impact?" Customers can choose between various grades ranging from 1 = "very good" to 5 = "inadequate". The results of this survey are analysed annually.
In 2004, TUI modified this method of assessment for the first time to include a complex scoring system which, apart from customer assessment, takes into account further factors such as environmental certification according to ISO 14001/EMAS, energy, water and waste management.
Of the thousands of TUI holiday hotels around the world, the ten selected by TUI customers to be the best in terms of environmental friendliness – in other words graded as “very good” – are awarded the “TUI Environment Champion” prize. They are highlighted in the brochure descriptions of TUI Deutschland, TUI Suisse and TUI Austria with the designation “TUI Environment Champion”.
