From 8-10 March, the Assembly of the Iberian Chapter of ICCA was held in Estoril, during which Frank Garcia, association sales manager of the International Convention Centre of Barcelona (CCIB) was named chairman of the chapter.
Frank Garcia takes over from Maria de Graça Luis Oliveira (Madeira Convention Bureau), who has chaired the Board of Directors of the Iberian Chapter of ICCA from 2009-2011, and whose team has included Carolina García Serra, sales and marketing manager of CCIB, who has occupied the post of vice-president these last two years.
With over 15 years of experience in the meetings and event industry, Frank Garcia has specialized in business development in the national and international association market. Before joining CCIB, he collaborated with two PCOs (Professional Congress Organizers), thus affording him a dual perspective of the industry which will undoubtedly allow him to make an important contribution to the association.
In the words of Frank Garcia: "I would like to thank chapter members for the confidence they have placed in me. It's a real honour to have the opportunity to contribute to the work of such an important trade association during the next two years. The creation of new tools for our members and generating new synergies with key actors in our industry will be among the chapter's main objectives. To this end, the accent will be put on communication, training and CSR."
The Iberian Chapter of ICCA currently has 70 members, representing top companies and institutions in the Spanish and Portuguese meetings and event industries.
