FIBES obtains quality tourism and environmental management certifications for the first time

The Trade Show and Congress Centre of Seville has taken the lead in Spain with these two certifications obtained after a year of work.

For the first time since opening, the Trade Show and Congress Centre of Seville (FIBES) has obtained the Q for Quality Tourism, awarded by the Spanish Tourism Quality Institute, and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification, after a comprehensive process of adaptation implemented over the last 12 months. These and the ISO 9001 certification obtained in 2015 have allowed FIBES to take the lead in Spain.

The Q for Quality Tourism certification reflects that work protocols have been established in the centre’s different departments, thus complying with the applicable quality standards as regards services, clients, exhibitors, and suppliers, as well as standardizing all customer service protocols, in addition to identifying potential risk situations. As regards catering services, work protocols have been created for adequate food management and manipulation, including the creation of hygiene and continuous training programmes to ensure quality customer service.

Concerning the ISO 14001 certification, this ensures the legal compliance of all the facilities and infrastructure with first-aid services and defibrillators, and an adequate management of urban and hazardous waste and action protocols for emergencies. Furthermore, this certification guarantees the correct preventive management of all of the centre’s facilities, thus prolonging their lifecycle.

These certifications have been obtained in a year that was very important for FIBES, given the current forecasts. In 2016, the centre hosted 860,000 people who participated in events, trade shows, and congresses, with an economic impact in the region of €100 million.
