FIBES hosts over 1.200 European toxicology specialists

The 52th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology got underway on 4 September.

The Seville Exhibition and Congress Centre (FIBES) hosted EUROTOX 2016, the 52th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology, from 4-7 September, with over 1,200 participants.

The merits and attractions of the city of Seville as a destination for hosting major international congresses were decisive in the decision last April of the organizing committee of EUROTOX 2016 to choose the city, in the face of strong competition from other major European capitals, after deciding to change the destination of the congress, which was initially going to be held in Istanbul.

The 52th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology is organized by the Society of Toxicology of Turkey, a federation of 34 societies with more than 7.000 members. The theme of the congress was “Public protection and environmental health through understanding and communicating toxicology”, and it addressed the latest advances and discoveries in the field of toxicology.

For Seville, the date of the congress, at the beginning of September, has been providential since it is the low season, after the holiday period, for which reason it has benefitted sectors directly related to tourism (hotels, shops, taxis, public transport, restaurants, etc.).
