Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre (FIBES) was chosen as one of the venues for the Annual Meeting of the Iberian Chapter of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), held alternately in Portugal and Spain.
On this particular occasion, Seville successfully fulfilled its role as host city during the three-day event, held from 3-5 March 2010, with a busy schedule programmed for ICCA members and guests invited to attend the meeting.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first time that the ICCA Iberian Chapter has organized a workshop for PCOs and corporate clients, featuring a specific programme including lunch, a presentation of FIBES enlargement project and a tour of the existing facilities.
As part of the programme including visits and activities, the attendees were divided into two different groups: the first comprising executives of associations potentially organising congresses over the next few years; and the second formed by all the ICCA members, that is, conference and congress centres, event agencies, convention bureaux, mass media, etc.
In the region of 80 attendees stayed at the emblematic Alfonso XIII Hotel, while visiting other properties like the Barcelo Renacimiento Hotel and Cortijo El Esparragal. Cultural activities included visits to Seville’s Fine Arts Museum and the Museum of Carriages.
Both groups visited FIBES, where they inspected the existing facilities and were shown the enlargement project, now nearing completion both in the auditorium and in the catering and delegate registration areas. When finished, FIBES will boast one of the biggest covered auditoriums in Europe, capable of seating an audience of 3,590, in addition to two adjacent buildings which will host not only world-class congress and conferences but also top musical and cultural productions.
After the technical tour of the facilities, a working lunch was organised for both groups at FIBES’ à la carte restaurant.
