In addition to this prestigious World Travel Award, last October the property was also named "Best Spanish Spa Hotel" for the third time.

On presenting the award to the press, Bernard Devos, owner of the Fairplay Golf Hotel in Benalup-Casas Viejas (Cadiz), referred to it as the "Tourism Oscars", and taking into account the stiff opposition from the other finalists, of which the South African property even has its own zoo, the Belgian entrepreneur has the right to feel proud of receiving the "Best Golf Hotel Boutique" (hotel with a golf course and less than 100 rooms) award for the second year running, at the XVII World Travel Awards held at London's Grosvenor House.

The winners of these awards are chosen by a panel of tourism industry professionals from all over the world, above all travel agents and tour operators.

In addition to this award, Fairplay Golf Hotel & Spa was named the "Best Spanish Spa Hotel" for the third time, in a ceremony held on 1 October in Antalya, Turkey.

The five-star Fairplay Golf Hotel & Spa is located in the village of Benalup-Casas Viejas, in the interior of the province of Cadiz not far from the coast. It is the only five-star, all-inclusive property in the area. Facilities include a spa area and a golf course designed by the architect Paul Rolin, who has worked with Robert Trend Jones on a number of occasions. The golf course's green fees are also all-inclusive, with refreshments during the round and lunch, including drinks, afterwards.

Bernard Devos acknowledged that 2010 has seen a change in the type of hotel guest, with the Germans losing ground to the British representing 25% of the property's clients. Likewise, he also mentioned that business was buoyant, with a current occupancy rate of 96%, which will not drop below 80% from January-May 2010. All "without reducing rates", said Devos, which are in the region of €162 per person per day.
