Exploramas has recently adapted its business vision in support of the cultural heritage and environment of the areas where the company carries out its activities, adopting different measures to increase the performance of school children, favour environmental education, and improve the quality of life of the said communities, with aim of offering its corporate clients not only new emotions and experiences, but also the opportunity to obtain personal reward from their active collaboration in the project through their participation in the events organised by the company.
In the words of Exporamas’ director Manuel Araujo, “This fledging ‘commitment’ has been much welcomed by our team. We are conscious of the fact that this challenge, motivated by our desire to continuously better ourselves, will require a personal effort that we are willing to make with dedication and enthusiasm to ensure the high level of quality for which we have come to be known.”
Project objectives
- Promote respect for the environment in which the company carries out its activities.
- Disseminate environmental information because knowledge leads to respect.
- Heighten the awareness of society as regards the importance of environmental conservation.
- Redistribute the wealth generated by tourism.
- Look after the safety of people taking part in outdoor activities.
The sum of these aims, “Commitment” is an active tourism project of a voluntary nature defining a new model, or set of guidelines, for tourism development by means of different initiatives:
- Awareness seminars keyed to school children (EducadaMente).
- Corporate events with a social purpose (CorporativaMente).
- Supporting initiatives that directly improve the environment (NaturalMente).
Some of the activities carried out to date within the framework of the Commitment Project:
Name: CUDECA
Date: September 2007
Participants: 600
Objective: Enlivening the event and fundraising.
Activity: On 23 September 2007, the Cudeca Cancer Care Foundation organised “Walkathon 2007 – Walk for Cudeca Cancer Care” in Benalmadena, for the fifth year running. The walk’s aim is to raise funds for the foundation’s many activities. Exploramas supported this initiative by enlivening the event with a series of motivating games for all the participants, with the aim of fostering co-operation and teamwork.
Name: COLEGIO ISTAN
Date: December 2007
Participants: 20
Objective: Identifying environmental values through fun experiences.
Activity: One of the mainstays of the Commitment Project is the EducadaMente programme, in which the idea is to show local school children the importance that environmental conservation has for the economic growth and social development of the whole area. On this occasion, as well as a giving a talk on environmental awareness, Exploramas organised a number of adventure activities, in which participants had to reply correctly to questions based on concepts covered in the talk. A sound success, Exploramas managed to draw attention to the enormous natural and social resources of this locality, set in the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, through new experiences.
Name: REFORESTATION
Date: December 2007
Participants: 60
Objective: Contributing actively to environmental conservation and improvement.
Activity: Replanting a forest that was greatly affected by a fire in 2001. This activity does not only entail replanting, because Exploramas has committed itself to monitoring the process. Each tree has been given to one of Exploramas’ clients/collaborators for Christmas, thus involving them in the initiative.
