ECOC 2015 converts Valencia into world optical telecommunications capital and generates economic impact of approximately €10 million

The 41st edition European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC 2015) closed at Feria Valencia on 1 October, with the attendance over 5,000 profesionales from all over the world during the five-day event.



During the congress, one of the most prestigious and popular in Europe in the field of optical communication technologies, devices and systems, the attendees had the opportunity to update their knowledge and discover new developments in the field of fiber-optic and photonic communication technologies, such as optical communications allowing for Petabyte/sec transmission rates, data centre interconnection, network virtualization, future 5G mobile communications, low-loss fiber-optic cable and photonic chips.



The congress was attended by the presidents and directors general of the world’s leading communication companies and scientists in this field.



ECOC 2015 was organized by the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). This is the third time that the congress has been held in Spain (the last time being in 1998 in Madrid).
