Cultural and Outdoor Tourism at the Hacienda Las Alcabalas

Last month, the Hacienda Las Alcabalas organised a varied programme of cultural and outdoor activities for a group of 47 people.



From slaughtering a pig to two book presentations and an art exhibition

Programmed activities included the traditional slaughtering of a pig, during which the butcher commented on the process and the audience helped in making “chacinas” and savoured minced “chorizo” and other typical dished such as “migas” and “ropa vieja”, a chickpea and pork stew.



During the long weekend there were horseshoeing and grooming and platting demonstrations, and rides around the estate in an open carriage for those who wished.



Cultural activities included an art exhibition of the works of Jorge Gallego in the converted mill house, during which those present had the chance to discuss them with the artist. Writers Abel Hernandez and Emilio Gonzalez Ferrin were also present to comment on their books “La España que quisimos” y “Historia General de Al Andalus” in an informal and entertaining presentation.



After tea, there was a classical music concert and the pianist dedicated a CD to those who asked for one, followed by horseshoeing and grooming and platting demonstrations, and an open carriage ride around the estate. Dinner was followed by a flamenco show.



Of the group of 47 people, 22 slept at the hacienda, 10 in nearby farmhouses, and 15 came up for the day from Seville and Cordova.



Opened at the beginning of the year

Covering 400.000m2 between the municipalities of Moron de la Frontera (Seville) and Puerto Serano (Cadiz), the hacienda was bought in 2001 and then rebuilt, restored and refurbished. Apart from being a country hotel, the estate is still give over to agriculture, recuperating the spirit of the past, part Roman villa part olive farm, by means of innovative concepts.



Opened at the beginning of the year, the hacienda has a varied programme of outdoor activities, such as shooting, paragliding and riding, for individual guests, groups and companies. In addition, there is a swimming pool, a spa, comfortable accommodation and excellent facilities for holding all kinds of events.
