Without counting Turespaña, Spain’s national tourist bureau, the Costa del Sol was the only Spanish destination exhibiting at the Scandinavian Hospitality Incentive Event Exhibition (SHIE), which was celebrated in Stockholm between 29 and 31 January.
An important market
According to the local tourist board’s Convention Bureau, a department specialising in the meeting and incentive industry, it is the third time the Costa del Sol has exhibited at the fair, due to the importance of the Scandinavian market. Even though SHIE is a fair specialising in meetings and incentives dedicated exclusively to the Swedish market, there were also exhibitors from Norway, Finland, Denmark, German, Poland, Hungry, Czech Republic, Holland and Ireland.
As well as meeting with the Swedish specialised and general press, the Convention Bureau took the opportunity to promote the Costa del Sol’s new projects, such as the enlargement of Malaga Airport, the near completion of the high-speed rail track linking the city with Madrid and other localities, the area’s newly opened hotels and leisure activities, and the Picasso Museum.
