The streets of the city’s historic centre were used as outdoor locations for filming a number of scenes for a Bollywood movie.

From 5-6 August, the streets of Malaga’s historic centre were transformed into a Bollywood film set. San Augustin, Cister and Plaza del Obispo, as well as the port and Los Rosales, were used for filming several musical numbers, staring the choreographer and dancer Sunny Signh, accompanied by a group of 16 Spanish dancers. Filming also took place in other Andalusian locations.

This new production was supported by the City Council, through the Malaga Film Office, the municipal department responsible for promoting the city worldwide as a film location and helping production companies to find suitable locations, obtain permits and coordinate the different municipal departments.

This latest production is the result of the collaboration with the entrepreneur and film producer Fernando Casa, who dedicates his time to promoting Spain as an international film location, as well as the development and promotion of the country’s tourist industry. He was responsible for the filming in Spain of the Bollywood super production Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, in locations such as Seville, the Sierra of Huelva, and Cadiz.

The Bollywood film industry has shown repeated interest in Spain as a location, after the film was a box-office hit in 2011, the year in which it picked up seven awards from the prestigious Indian Film Academy. The film, which tells the story of the trip that three friends take to Spain, includes the song "Miss", filmed in Alajar in the Sierra of Huelva and which reached No.1 in the Indian charts last summer.
