From 30 September-9 October, some the world’s leading athletes will be competing in Castile and Leon in the most important international adventure race.

The gruelling course – 700 kilometres non-stop over mountains and rivers and through forests – the demands of map reading, the struggle against time, the risks involved in each test coupled with the unpredictability of night-time racing, the mixed teams and the variability of nature, all contribute to a unique sport whose popularity has increased tenfold in the last five years.

This type of raid is exclusively designed for the most cohesive, constant and intelligent teams, of which only one will triumph. There is an exceeding high level and the competitors are authentic high-performance athletes.

Thanks to the support of a number of public institutions (Autonomous Government of Castile and Leon, the Provincial Governments of Palencia, Leon, Avila and Salamanca, and many town and city councils) and the company’s experience in organizing a large number of adventure races in 2009, Meridiano Raid has been commissioned to organize the Adventure Racing World Championship 2010.

The organizers are working hard to obtain the “Carbon Neutral” certification to ensure a 100% sustainable event.
