Thanks to the combined efforts of BI-TC, the City of Brussels and the Brussels Region, Brussels will be playing host, for three years in a row, to the biggest Humanitarian Aid conference and world fair: AIDEX, which is to be held for the first time from 19-20 October 2011 at Brussels Expo.
For BI-TC, the City of Brussels and the Brussels Region, playing host to a conference of this kind represents a real opportunity for Brussels. No other event can pride itself on gathering together, for two days under the same roof, governmental and intergovernmental organisations, NGOs, as well as senior-level political leaders and many specialists.
Belgium has always been very active in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Brussels is, of course, the seat of many governmental institutions and organisations, NGOs, foundations and other charitable bodies, not forgetting the presence of the Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department of the European Commission (DG ECHO), which actively supports the event.
