The 6th edition of the Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE), Asia’s leading tourism event, is due to be held at the Beijing Exhibition Centre from 18-20 June 2009.
With an exhibition area of 30,500m2, the 6th edition of BITE will have in the region of 800 exhibitors from 90 countries, representing many of the tourist industry’s different segments – airlines, heritage centres, golf courses, destinations, entertainment companies, hotels, restaurants, health spas, beach resorts, national tourist board, MICE service providers, etc. – and attract over 33,000 trade professionals and visitors.
Although the global crisis is expected to have a negative impact on inbound tourism, the number of Chinese travelling abroad in 2009 is forecast to increase. Outbound travel hit a new high during the first few months of the year, with more than 34 million Chinese travelling overseas, up almost 15% from the same period last year.
