EIBTM (The Global Meetings and Incentives Exhibition), the industry’s most valued worldwide networking forum in Europe, will be held from 28-30 November 2006 at the Fira de Barcelona venue in Gran Via.

Barcelona will be home to the exhibition until 2008

In 2004 Barcelona was chosen to host this important exhibition until 2008, in a selection process carried out by Reed Travel Exhibitions, the exhibition’s organiser, in which the other candidates were Vienna, Madrid, Lisbon and Geneva.

Approximately 3,000 international suppliers

Some of the sectors represented at EIBTM include airlines, exhibition halls and other conference venues, convention bureaux, cruise lines and luxury trains, health resorts and spas, hotels and hotel groups, meeting and conference planners, DMCs, Incentive houses, ground transport, tourist organisations, technology providers (at the MPI Technology Village), publications, trade associations and other conference and incentive services (at the Event Services Village). The exhibition attracts professionals involved in the planning or organisation of events, such as representatives of large corporations and companies, professional associations, agencies, media and international experts.

More than 2,700 international suppliers, including first-time exhibitors such as Norwegian Cruise Lines, Air Berlin, Epoque Hotels and the Dubai World Trade Centre, from 95 countries (Paraguay, El Salvador and Uruguay making their first appearance at EIBTM) and 6,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2006 edition.

A complete programme

As with past editions, the three-day event includes a comprehensive free seminar programme covering recent trends, sustainability, technology, professional education, leadership and supplier selection, among other subjects.

The EIBTM programme of familiarisation trips, lasting three days, will take place following the exhibition from 1-3 December. Destinations include Bilbao, the Costa Dorada, Girona, Sitges, Tenerife, Amsterdam, Oslo and London.
