Large events
Over the years, Montecastillo has hosted many large events, such as car presentations and product launches related to the car industry, the most important of which being Rover, BMW and General Motors, which invited 8,000 car dealership owners to Jerez in March 2004.
Moreover, many companies from Spain and abroad (chiefly from the United Kingdom and Germany) have chosen the hotel as the venue for holding sporting events, international conventions, invcentive programmes, etc.
Golf tournaments
Montecastillo’s famous golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1993, was chosen in 1994 as the venue for the Andalusian Turespaña Masters Open, and between 1997-2001 it hosted the Andalusian Volvo Masters, the last tournament of the European Golf Tour bringing together the 66 best golfers in Europe.
Located in a 160-hectare estate, with autochthonous fauna and flora, the course blends in with the surrounding, offering players an unequalled round of golf. Since 1997, the year in which Montecastillo hosted its first Volvo Masters, between 1-2 million euros has been invested yearly in a renovation programme geared to improving the technical and aesthetic aspects of the course, including the planting of 100-year-old olive trees, new drainage systems, marmoline, machinery, etc.
The golf course has excellent practice facilities, including a driving range with Bermuda-type grass, a covered practice tee, a spacious putting green, a chipping course, and an exclusive golf academy with 1,800m of fairways planted with Bermuda-type grass, a putting green, a chipping green, and a timber chalet including a video screening room, a kitchen, a bathroom and an office for the golf-pro. The academy can be rented by professional golfers and groups.
Additional sports facilities
In the year 2000, two international-size football pitches and a practice ground were built following the recommendation of Manchester United and the English Football Association. The facilities, which are also equipped with changing rooms, a jogging track circling the grounds, a tennis court, a sports centre and four floodlit paddle tennis courts, have hosted top European football teams during the winter and pre-season training camps, such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund. Additionally, there are also two outdoor swimming pools.

Leisure activities
Besides the hotel’s facilities, the area offers a wide range of leisure activities to suit all tastes. Jerez de la Frontera is famous for its sherry and brandy, and a tour of the town’s wine cellars is must. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is another of the Jerez’s famous attractions.
