The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, accompanied by Salvador Pendon, president of the Provincial Council of Malaga, and Antonio Souviron, director of tourism of the Andalusian Regional Government, officially opened the Campanile Malaga, the international group Louvre Hotels' first property in the province.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the chain, such as Joël Guiraud, manager of international expansion and operations, and David Lizondo, regional manager for Spain and Portugal of Louvre Hotels, in addition to the managers of the eight Campanile Hotels in Spain. Guests also included the French Vice-consul, the Chairman of AEHCOS, Jose Carlos Escribano, and a large number of travel agents, wholesalers and representatives of the city’s business community.

During the ceremony, David Lizondo highlighted the six million euros that the Louvre Group has invested in this new hotel, located in the city of Malaga. Likewise, he announced the purchase of Golden Tulip by the Louvre Group, bringing the total number of available beds to 800,000.

Antonio Souviron thanked the group for investing in the province. Along these lines, Salvador Pendon underlined the importance of increasing the number of hotels in the area, with functional properties focusing on innovation, comfort and modern design.

Finally, Francisco de la Torre commented on the hotel’s strategic location and closeness to all of the city’s important hubs, including the airport, the historic and cultural centre, and the municipal sports facilities, vital for the sports camp segment.

Julio Martinez, manager of the new hotel, thanked the speakers for attending and for their support, presenting them with a clock based on the logo of the Campanile group, designed especially for the event by the sculptor David Marshall.

The Moroccan flamenco fusion group Amarin provided the evening’s entertainment.

Avante Corporate Public Relations, a communication agency specializing in the hospitality industry, was commissioned to organize the event.
