Andalusia’s regional department of tourism is currently promoting the region as a meeting, congress and incentive travel destination in two professional events being held in Spain and Belgium.

European Meeting Industry Fair (EMIF)

The EMIF, which is being held in Brussels between 14-15 February, is a specialised trade fair for professionals working in the sector. Andalusia has several stands, with information and promotional material, located in the section dedicated to Spain at the Brussels Expo Centre. Seven thousand professionals, including travel agents, tour operators and representatives of the Belgium tourist industry, are expected to attend the show before it closes today.

In 2006, 180,293 Belgium tourists stayed at Andalusian hotels, totalling 820,454 overnight stays, with an average stay of 4.6 days.

XX Congress of the Spanish Federation of OPCs

It is hoped that more than 180 specialised companies will attend the XX Congress of the Spanish Federation of OPCs, which is being held this week in Madrid, before it ends on 17 February.

Andalusia improves its ranking

According to the results of the Spanish Business Tourism Study, conducted by Turespaña, Andalusia was ranked second in 2005, after Madrid, as regards the total number of meeting and congress delegates (16.9% of the national market), improving on its third place ranking of the year before.
