Scheduled to be held from 13-17 February, ARCOmadrid 2013 will again feature a forum for discussing the latest trends in creativity and the art market.

Curators, artists, collectors, directors and representatives of museums, art galleries and cultural institutions, critics and other prestigious professionals will be attending the event to exchange ideas and projects and network with the exhibiting galleries with the aim of generating interesting leads.

Along these lines, the show will have a comprehensive parallel programme of activities, featuring a collectors’ forum, as well as professional meetings in which the most burning issues will be addressed; a unique platform for analyzing and discussing arte and collecting.

Professional meetings

After its resounding success at previous editions, this forum has consolidated itself as a meeting point for curators and art experts from all over the world. Only for professionals and on an invitation-only basis, these meetings provide the opportunity to share thoughts, exchange experiences and discuss new trends.

The personalities attending these meetings have been invited by Yuko Hasegawa, chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo; Adriano Pedrosa, an independent curator from Sao Paolo; Jens Hoffmann, director of the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, San Francisco; Chelsea Hains, the New York-based curator and writer; Anna Colin, the London and Paris-based curator; Patrick Charpenel, director of the Jumex Collection, Mexico DF; and Magali Arriola, curator of the Jumex Collection, Mexico DF.

Likewise, the show will also include the 2nd Meeting of European and Latin American Museums, presided by Natalia Majluf, director of the Lima Art Museum, and João Fernandes, the recently appointed deputy-head of conservation, and Jesus Carrillo, head of cultural programmes, at the Reina Sofia National Museum and Art Centre. The meeting, which will be attended by 20 professionals from both sides of the Atlantic, will focus on ways of cooperation through research, archives and education, as well as on how to deterritorialize the collection concept with the aim of promoting the mobility of collections, among other issues.

Forum

The parallel programme will also include a collector’s forum, with panel discussions led by Rosa Martinez and Richard Flood, chief curator of the New Museum of Contemporary Art.

As to new activities, Roberta Bosco and Stefano Caldana will coordinate a series of Web seminars with the participation of leading opinion makers and art critics.
