It is becoming a tradition that IMSOL receives a group of American students in Granada at Christmas, and we did this 2017. We have met some very dynamic boys and girls who have made us spend unforgettable days. Do you want to know about their experience? We tell you about it below.
Their first visit to Spain and Granada
We are talking about a group of American university students, aged between 19 and 23 years old, coming from several American universities (Berkeley, South Carolina, Houston, Winona, etc.), who decided to spend their Christmas holidays in the wonderful city of the Alhambra… and they have loved it!
It was the first time they visited Spain and they said that they had made the right choice.
Programme of activities organized
They organized their trip to Granada through a special programme in collaboration with their sending universities, which provides accommodation with Spanish host families, Spanish lessons and a comprehensive programme leisure activities.
In addition, IMSOL organized extracurricular activities: culture workshops, guided walks around the city, and of course a guided tour to the Alhambra and El Generalife:
Tailor-made Spanish courses
Their levels of Spanish were diverse: some higher than others, but for each of them IMSOL managed to adapt the Spanish course to their specific needs and backgrounds. All had tailor made Spanish courses, either in general Spanish or for specific purposes (culture, tourism, health, etc.). And all agreed on one thing: they learned a lot during their stay.
In addition to the teaching of Spanish, all courses have revolved around Spanish and Andalusian culture. The Christmas season is a very special time, full of singularities (the Portales de Belén, the Day of the Innocents, New Year’s Eve, etc.) in which they participated during their lessons. We especially remember the session of flamenco carols, polvorones and anís that the students could enjoy thanks to the fabulous help of our ELE teachers in training:
It has been an unforgettable experience, a group of great boys and girls and a very emotional Christmas, and that is why the last Friday’s farewell was very sad… But we are sure that it will not be the last time we will see each other … IMSOL and Granada await you!
