The IV National Wine Tourism Congress, organised by the international business school Aliter, will be held at the Santoña Palace (Foundation of the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid), between 25-26 April.

Spectacular growth

During the congress, professionals and representatives from the wine industry, as well as specialised journalists, writers and critics, will analyse the present state of wine tourism, a trend that has seen a spectacular growth in the last few years and which is regarded as essential for the future of the industry and specialised tourism in Spain.

In the last couple of decades, wine production in Spain has increased by 500%, variety has multiplied by 50 and quality by 1,000. Spain now has many “appellation d’origine” – Jerez, Rioja, Ribera and Penedes, among others – and many national and international tourists are attracted by wine tourism, convinced that drinking wine where it is made is a much more enriching experience than doing it at home.

Wine tourism in Andalusia

Andalusia has recently promoted its wine and food tourism destinations at “Destinovino”, the II International Wine Tourism Fair, which was held in Logroño from the 12-15 April. The fair is a biannual event dedicated to the tourist industry and organisers and institutions whose aim is to design wine tours.
