Organised by the Costa del Sol Hoteliers’ Association (AEHCOS), the 10th Costa del Sol Professional Hospitality Exhibition will be held at the Torremolinos Congress and Exhibition Centre from 2-4 April 2008.
The event’s programme will include a buffet decoration workshop, the 2nd Cocktail Competition for head barmen, young barmen and hospitality school students, and the 9th Gourmet Exhibition of Costa del Sol Hospitality Schools.
The event’s workshops and activities are keyed to owners and director of hotels, hostels, holiday apartments, travel agencies, camping sites, leisure centres, bars, restaurants, etc., in addition to heads of administrative departments, kitchen staff, housekeepers, technical services, restaurants, discount stores, etc., and distributors, trade professionals and the public in general.
As in previous editions, the event is sponsored by the Regional Government’s department or tourism, commerce and sports and Turismo Andaluz, and organised in collaboration with Malaga’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation.
AEHCOS at Holiday World 2008
In collaboration with Malaga’s Chamber of Commerce, AEHCOS has again participated in Prague’s tourism trade show Holiday World 2008, together with 11 hotel companies based on the Costa del Sol.
With 701 stands, representing 49 countries, of which 32 belonged to Spanish exhibitors, and a total of 30,120 visitors, including 726 journalists working for specialised publications, the event is going from strength to strength.
The Czech Republic’s three most important tour operators have shown great interest in the Costa del Sol. A number of agreements have been signed and three fam trips organised for Czech travel agents, which will take place in April and June this year. In addition, the possibility of operating a charter flight between Malaga and the Czech Republic in 2009 is being analysed.
Hotel Occupancy on the Costa del Sol Reached 47.69% in January 2008
According to figures obtained by AEHCOS (Costa del Sol Hoteliers’ Association), hotel occupancy in the province of Malaga reached 47.69% in January, corresponding to 1,118,062 overnight stays, up 8.4% on estimates for this month. An occupancy rate of 51.51% is forecast for February.
The breakdown of the clients staying at hotels on the Costa del Sol during January 2008 by country of origin is as follows: United Kingdom (39.73%), Spain (30.44%), Germany (6.26%), Holland (3.78%), Scandinavia (3.72%), Belgium (2.73%), Italy (1.53%), and France (1.42%).
