Antonio Jesus Gutierrez Blanco, the Malaga-born sommelier and 2007 Spanish Golden Nose Award-winner, has recently joined the technical management of the 2008 edition of the Wine and Designation of Origin Fair, which will be held in Torremolinos from 15-18 November. Besides engaging the services of this expert, who owns the Trujal Vinos wine merchant chain, the event’s organisers have made changes in the “Palacio” Best Wine Awards and the content of the academic programme.

Gutierrez’s appointment adds prestige, credibility and transparency to the awards of one of the most important wine fairs in Andalusia. Regarded as one of the greatest wine experts in Spain, he is the first Andalusian to have won the Spanish Golden Nose Award, a world-renowned wine competition in which he has participated six times, reaching the final on four occasions.

Organised by the Congress and Exhibition Centre and the Town Council of Torremolinos, the Wine and Designation of Origin Fair will be holding its ninth consecutive edition this year. National and international wineries, regulating boards, producers and wine merchants from three continents (Europe, North and South America, and Oceania) will be showcasing their wines at this year’s edition, which is open to trade professionals and the general public, alike.
