The World Flamenco Fair will be held once again at the Seville’s Trade Fair and Congress Centre (FIBES) from 24-28 October 2007. This year, the event will coincide with the World Music Expo (WOMEX), the largest music fair in the world.
WOMEX’07
The reason behind making the World Flamenco Fair coincide with WOMEX’07 is the fact that the latter is regarded as an ideal networking platform for artistes and managers. This year, more than 2,500 delegates from 100 countries are expected to attend.
The fair’s venue will have an exhibition area for companies and artistes, a business centre, an area given over to public institutions and a meeting point to facilitate contacts between buyers and exhibitors, where a series of promotional activities will be carried out, such as record presentations, specialised press conferences, gatherings, etc.
Programme
This year’s edition of the fair will include performances by Manuela Carrasco, Paco Ortega, La Soles, Maita Vende Ca, Antonio El Pipa and Diego Magallanes, among other artistes. In addition, more than 15 functions have been scheduled for each day of the fair, including presentations, press conferences, performances and short recitals, which will be attended by international planners.
Held since 2001
The aim of the World Flamenco Fair, which was first held in 2001, is that of boosting the industry and disseminating flamenco on the national and international stage. Over the years, the fair has been adapted to new trends; having started out as a fair open to the general public, it has become a markedly professional event, a move that the flamenco industry’s actors have been clamouring for.
