Every year, this multidisciplinary congress is attended by up to 1,000 delegates, mostly scientists, engineers and other specialists in the field.

"We are very pleased to have worked with the Czech Biomechanical Society from the very start of the project, thus allowing us to make a significant contribution to the bid’s success. After selecting a PCO, which is the company CZECH-IN, Prague’s presentation in Lisbon was a resounding success," said Lenka Žlebková, congress director of Prague Convention Bureau.

Several candidates were invited to the Annual Board Meeting held during the 18th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics in Lisbon – which took place from 1-4 July 2012 – to defend their bids for the organization of the 21st ESB Congress in 2015. However, thanks to a well-prepared, comprehensive and compelling presentation, the board chose the Czech Republic and its capital as the next destination to host the meeting.

With the aim of promoting research, disseminating knowledge and encouraging progress in biomechanics, the European Society of Biomechanics was established at a meeting held in Brussels in 1976 by a group of 20 scientists from 11 countries. It is now the largest biomechanical society in Europe with more than 750 members.
