Stable, dynamic and fast-growing, China is now the 2nd largest economy in the world. As a country with a swiftly growing meetings market both inbound and outbound, it plays a significant role in many industry sectors.

According to the China National Tourism Administration, 39.9% of inbound travel to China is business and meeting related; while 50% of visitors to Beijing 50% are business travelers. Furthermore, the Chinese capital hosts more than 220,000 meetings and conferences every year, and exhibitions and meetings generate yearly revenues of RMB13.18 billion. The Chinese meetings and event industry is expected to grow four or five-fold by 2020.

CIBTM 2011 saw record-breaking attendance with some 4,400 hosted buyers and trade visitors taking part, while over 7,500 pre-scheduled appointments were made prior to the event. There were also 391 main stand holders and exhibiting partners, thus confirming the largest CIBTM to date.

This year, Beijing will also host the SITE 2012 global conference, which is co-located with CIBTM 2012.
