The golf courses of the Costa del Sol are preparing to welcome the new year, which comes loaded with interesting tournaments and attractive events for golf lovers. Championships for all categories, competitive circuits and solidarity awards complete the 2017 calendar. Here are some of the most relevant appointments that await you on the Costa del Golf.
Andalucia Valderrama Masters
In the orbit of the Costa del Sol, Real Club Valderrama will be the protagonist of the biggest golf event of the year in Spain: the Andalucia Valderrama Masters. This event, part of the European Tour, will be held from the 19-22 October 2017, with the participation of about 150 professional players of the highest calibre.
This event will be broadcast through the television of the European Tour in France, United Kingdom and United States among others. It was Graeme McDowell who was proclaimed champion of the inaugural edition of Andalucia Valderrama Masters.
From the Western Costa del Sol to the Axarquia
The Real Club de Golf Guadalmina of Marbella will host the Andalusian Men’s Cup. The event takes place from 9-12 January, coinciding with the celebration of the female version of this tournament at Atalaya Golf & Country Club in Estepona.
On the 11 February begins at the Chaparral Golf Club in Mijas the Malaga’s Senior Circuit and on the 15th, the Andalusian Interclub Female Championship at La Cala Resort. At the end of the month, the Puntuable Andaluz P & P also kicks off at Magna Marbella Golf.
At the beginning of March comes the Women’s Circuit at Baviera Golf in Velez-Malaga, which will also include participants in the Children’s Circuit and Pequecircuito in 2017. Both are aimed at small golfers and are played in different fields.
Sport, leisure and solidarity
The Miguel Angel Jimenez Golf Academy of Torremolinos organises on the 25 March the II National Pitch & Putt Championship, while Bil Bil Golf of Benalmadena will receive the 13 May the opponents in the Andalusian Championship of P&P Doubles.
In June it is the turn of the A.F.A. Grand Prix, the Andalusian Championship of 2nd, 3rd and 4th category and the Andalusian Championship of Doubles. The Mijas Golf Club, Lauro Golf and Guadalmina are the scenarios of these appointments, scheduled for 3rd and 17th.
This last complex is home to the Norberto Goizueta Memorial on the 26 July. A month that starts in Mijas Golf with the Solidarity Benefit Grand Prix and closes in that same club with the Grand Prix of the Spanish Association of Fight Against Cancer.
