The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Elche on 11 February, during the National Congress of the Spanish Federation of PCO Associations.

In a meeting held in Elche on 9 December 2010, the board of directors of the Spanish Federation of PCO Associations (OPC Spain) chose the winners of the 14th edition of its annual awards. The official awards ceremony will take place in Elche on 11 February, during the 14th National Congress of the Spanish Federation of PCO Associations. These awards were created with the aim of acknowledging the work and support of institutions, companies and individuals in favour of the Spanish congress industry in 2010.

The award winners of the 2010 edition are as follows:

- National Institution: Spanish Colleges of Physicians.

With this award, the federation has sought to acknowledge the prolific number of congresses and seminars organized by this institution which, comprising the General Council of Official Colleges of Physicians and the colleges themselves, represents all licensed physicians in Spain.

- Local Institution: Murcia Congress Office.

After 12 years of hard work and constant effort, this institution has managed to consistently increase the number of events held at the city’s different congress venues from 356 in 1997, with 54,763 delegates, to 1,194 meetings and events in 2009, totalling 145,924 attendees.

- Congress Venue: Riojaforum, La Rioja Congress Centre and Auditorium.

This year’s Congress Venue award goes to Riojaforum, an accessible, versatile and flexible venue that has become the flagship of La Rioja of the 21st century, whose decidedly sustainable philosophy is reflected by the centre’s energy and air conditioning management and control system. Riojaforum has a team of highly specialized professionals ensuring a correct planning and management of services and facilities for each event.

- Complementary Service Company: Econlab, Investigación y Marketing, S. L.

OPC Spain has decided to give this award to a professional service firm, created in 2007 and geared at first to marketing and market research applied to strategic business development. In just a few months, Econlab has broadened its services to include CSR and sustainability applied to the tourist and leisure industries.

- Media: Professional Events

The award acknowledges the track record of this magazine, as well as its interest and meticulousness when publishing news related to Spain OPC and, above all, congress tourism.

- Special Award of the Jury: Mr Miguel Angel Moratinos Cuyaube

With this award, OPC Spain has wanted to acknowledge the active role of Miguel Angel Moratinos in the staging of national and international congresses – mainly related to the Alliance of Civilizations and interculturality – when occupying the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from 2004-2010.
