Kursaal to Host San Sebastian Gastronomika Congress in October

The coming edition of the congress will feature TV chefs Arguiñano and Chicote, as well as the popular TV show "Junior Master Chef".



The coming edition of the San Sebastian Gastronomika – Euskadi Basque Country, due to get underway on 6 October, will feature the London culinary scene.



This year’s edition of this outstanding culinary event will be the most TV-centric to date thanks to the programme "Junior Master Chef" and the participation of Arguiñano and Chicote, two of the country’s most well-known TV chefs. And Samantha Vallejo, Pepe Rodiguez and Jordi Cruz, the panel members of TVE’s popular show, will be putting six candidates through their paces.



"Iron Chef"

"Junior Master Chef" will not be the only TV-related feature of the congress, since Alberto Chicote ("Hell’s Kitchen" and "TopChef") will also be at Kursaal to present a special edition of "Iron Chef" (an internationally successful TV format) in which Iñigo Lavado, Iñigo Peña and Javier Olleros will be expected to prepare a dish with the same ingredients, which will not be unveiled to them until they are on stage. Other TV personalities will include Angel Leon, who, as well as forming a part of the panel of judges, together with Chicote, will deliver a keynote entitled, "Mar, siglo XXI", and Karlos Arguiñano, who is a member of the Technical Committee of San Sebastian Gastronomika.



Since London is the guest city at this year’s edition of the congress, the event would not be complete without Gordon Ramsay, one of global television’s best known culinary gurus and the presenter of the American version of "Hell’s Kitchen". Clare Smyth, the head chef at the Scottish chef’s restaurant in London, will deliver a keynote entitled, "Interpreting Gordon Ramsay," as a part of the "London in the Vanguard" conference cycle. In addition to Smyth, other top London chefs, including Heston Blumenthal, Fergus Henderson, Jason Atherton and Mikael Jonsson, will also be participating in the congress.



San Sebastian Gastronomika – Euskadi Basque Country is a unique occasion to see and taste the creations of the best chefs in London, Spain and the rest of the world. Furthermore, this year those registering for the conference will be eligible for a number of perks, such as a registration and accommodation package that includes a free pass for a "private cooking" session. With a limited number of places, the session features the participation of Eneko Atxa, Albert Raurich, Ricardo Sanz, Oliver Peña, Hideki Matsuhisa, Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas.
