Gdansk Hosts 2010 Wikimania Conference

Gdansk, one of Poland's oldest cities, defeated Oxford and Amsterdam in its bid to host this year's edition of the Wikimania conference, held at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic from 9-11 July.



This year’s edition of the Wikimania conference, held at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdansk, included an intensive three-day programme of conferences revolving around issues related to freedom and co-operation, as well as the possibility of sharing experiences in running a wiki pages related to science and business. The conference had the support of the Gdansk Convention Bureau and the Regional Volunteer Centre in Gdansk.

Wikimania is an annual conference for editors, members and people interested in Wiki projects run by the Wikimedia Foundation. Originally, the conference was keyed to users, administrators, developers and issues directly related to Wikipedia and its sister projects. Nowdays, the conference is more oriented towards the transfer of free culture and software.
