The 1st Andalusian Cultural Industries Fair (FICA) will be held at Seville’s Trade Show and Congress Centre from 3-4 December 2007. With an exhibition space of more than 7.200m2, there will be over 100 exhibitors distributed in 10 thematic areas.
The Andalusian Regional Government’s Departments of Economy, Revenue and Innovation, Science and Enterprise, and Culture, in collaboration with FIBES, have organised this fair bringing together cultural enterprises and the general public with an eye to evaluating and boosting cultural production and consumption in Andalusia, since it is having a increasingly greater impact on settings as strategic as tourism, communication, commerce, employment and enterprise.
The Department of Culture is currently conducting work to produce a cultural satellite account for Andalusia – an essential instrument for analysing economic trends – in the framework of a programme keyed to boosting and promoting Andalusian cultural industries. The study has been conducted on eight sectors or cultural dimensions – cultural heritage, printing and literature, archives and libraries, music and performing arts, visual and plastic art and handicrafts, media, audio-visual technologies and multimedia, architecture, design and advertising, and socio-cultural activities.
The fair will also have a business area for commercial contacts between exhibitors, businessmen and visitors.
