Cooltra’s electrical vehicle division aims to promote sustainable tourism with a fleet of 50 electric scooters.
On 26 June, the eCooltra initiative – with a rental fleet of over 50 electric scooters – was officially presented on Formentera. Attended by regional authorities, the event got under way at 12am in the parking lot of La Savina Port.
The aim of the eCooltra project is to promote sustainable tourism, consolidating a new mobility model both for tourists and for residents and the local authorities. eCooltra thus underlines its commitment to introducing this sustainable mode of transport on the island. Formentera’s charge points and the general awareness as regards environmental conservation makes the island a benchmark for electric mobility geared to the tourism industry.
The island’s characteristics, the short distances and the large number of available charge points all facilitate the implementation of this initiative. It is also important to stress that the substitution of electric scooters for the petrol-driven kind will lead to an important reduction in CO2 emissions, which are expected to be in the region of nine tons every tourist season. The high level satisfaction already shown by clients that have rented an electric scooter to get about on the island certainly bodes well for the future of this sustainable mobility solution on Formentera.
