ICCA Iberian Chapter Starts 2014 by Multiplying Presence at MICE Industry Events

Several representatives of the ICCA Iberian Chapter participated in the 6th Smart Congress of EFAPCO (European Federation of the Associations of Professional Congress Organizers), jointly organized by the Spanish Federation of PCOs (OPC España), held at the Malaga Tradeshow and Congress Centre from 17-18 January. The chapter’s participation reflects the policy of its new board of directors geared to multiplying its presence at MICE industry events and joining forces with other MICE-related associations to implement joint initiatives.



Along these lines, the chapter has attended the meeting of the Association Forum held today, coinciding with the opening of FITUR 2014. In addition to the ICCA Iberian Chapter, the forum comprises a number of other associations including OPC España (Spanish Federation of Professional Congress Organizers, the Spanish Exhibition and Trade Show Association (AFE), the Spanish Association of Congress Centres (APCE), the Association of Spanish Destination Management Companies (SpainDMCs), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and SITE Spain.



Assembly in Gerona

Also coinciding with FITUR 2014, the members of the ICCA Iberian Chapter’s board of directors will hold a meeting with the aim of finalizing the details of the chapter’s next assembly, scheduled to be held at the Gerona Auditorium and Congress Centre from 2-3 April, which will also be attended by representatives of the Gerona Congress Centre (the host venue), and the Gerona Costa Brava and Catalonia Convention Bureaux, which are also collaborating in the assembly’s organization.



Likewise, representatives of the chapter also attended the 2014 edition of the Tourism Leadership Forum organized by Exceltur, which is held each year just before FITUR, whose sessions revolved around the theme "Tourism: a key industry for strengthening a country brand."



Catalonian Business Tourism Forum

Furthermore, the ICCA Iberian Chapter will be attending the 1st Catalonian Business Tourism Forum as a collaborating association, a day-long event geared to Catalonian companies operating in the business tourism and meeting and event industry. Organized by the Catalonia Convention Bureau (a chapter member).With the attendance of over 300 companies, the forum will feature a top-class professional education programme, based on innovative formats and including activities designed to encourage audience participation, whose aim is to define the future of business tourism in Catalonia.
